Rules of the Committee of Physiology and Pharmacology Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences

§ 1

The Committee of Physiology and Pharmacology Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, hereinafter „the Committee” was appointed by virtue of Resolution № 2/2011 of the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences, dated 26 May 2011 and operates at the Department V of PAN.  

§ 2

1. The Committee comprises: specialists of certain scientific disciplines in the range of scientific issues represented by the Committee, elected by the scientific community of certain discipline (or disciplines represented in the Committee), honorary president and honorary members of the Committee, as well as domestic members of the Polish Academy of Sciences of certain specialities, applying for participation in activities of the present Committee.

2. Upon the Committee’s motion, the Dean of the faculty designates specialists from economic and social areas as well as representatives of specialised scientific societies.

§ 3

1. The mode of the election of the Committee members and its bodies is defined in „Rules of the election of scientific Committee members and its bodies”, approved by the Presidium of the Academy.

2. The Committee personnel nomination takes place for a four-year term of office. The term of office of the Committee members and its bodies shall commence on the day of the first meeting of the newly elected members.

3. At the request of the plenary meeting of the scientific Committee, approved by the Dean of the Faculty, the Presidium of PAN may in recognition of the merits made in the management of the work and achievements of the Committee, assign the honorary president of the Committee.

4. At the request of the plenary meeting of the scientific Committee, the plenary meeting of the Faculty may in recognition of the merits in the management of the work and achievements of the Committee, assign the honorary members of the Committee.

§ 4

The bodies of the Committee:

- President of the Committee

- Presidium of the Committee

§ 5

1. The Presidium of the Committee comprises 4 persons:

- President and the deputies (3 persons)

- Secretary

2. Only the Committee members elected for a present term of office shall be elected and appointed to the Presidium.

3. The President of the Committee, elected at the first plenary meeting of the Committee in a new term of office, is appointed by the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences at the request of the Dean of the proper Faculty.

4. The President of the Committee shall convene plenary meetings and the Presidium meetings, preside at them, manage current work of the Committee and represent Committee externally. In case of the President’s absence, the empowered deputy subsitutes for the President.

5. The Presidium may consist of the persons elected from the Committee members, honorary president or honorary members of the Committee. The plenary meeting of the Committee shall adopt the resolution about that matter and carry out the elections.

§ 6

The Presidium of the Committee is responsible for: management of the Committee work, preparation of resolutions drafts, execution of the plenary meeting resolutions, creation and modification of work plans and reports on the Committee activities, as well as decision-making in the matters provided by the plenary meeting of the Committee, the Faculty or the Presidium of the Academy, unless the decisions require the consent of the plenary of the Committee.

 

§ 7

The Committee is responsible for undertaking all activities to develop disciplines presented by the Committee and using their achievements for the benefit of the country, in particular:

 1. Consideration of important issues of physiology and pharmacology or related scientific fields, as well as organisation of the debates, discussions and scientific conferences for this purpose.

 2. Dissemination of the results of the debates, discussions and scientific conferences, referred to in paragraph 1.

 3. Evaluation of the state and the needs of physiology and pharmacology or related scientific disciplines and scientific institutions at their own or one of the Academy bodies’ request.

 4. Preperation of opinions, evaluations, assessments and scientific projections regarding physiology and pharmacology or related scientific disciplines.

 5. Cooperation with the bodies and the scientific institutions of the Academy in the matter of promoting the development of people starting their scientific career.

 6. Cooperation with the International Union of Physiological Sciences.

 7. Interaction in the implementation and dissemination of reaserch and development results.

 8. Concern for the representative contribution of Polish science to the development of science in the world, including the development of international cooperation.

 9. Together with other Committees, preparation of mulidisciplinary scientific developments, on their own initiative or at the request of one of the bodies of the Academy.

      10. Evaluation of scientific publications.

§ 8

1. The plenary meeting of the Committee is the main body of the Committee.

2. The plenary meetings of the Committee take place as necessary, but not less than twice a year.

3. The plenary meeting’s tasks begin with adoption of the Rules and potential amendments to it, adoption of the resolutions regarding execution of the Committee activities and adoption of the resolutions regarding the matters submitted for consideration.
